A bit of background: Through the revision of the EU’s eIDAS Regulation, all EU Member States (and Norway through the EEA agreement) will be legally required to ensure that an “identity wallet” is available to their citizens. One that the “citizen can use anywhere in Europe to do anything from paying your taxes to renting a bicycle”. What is this “European Digital Identity Wallet” (EDIW) going to be, why does the EU require this, and how is it going to be used?
